"El jardín de senderos que se bifurcan": Writing witnesses

This digital project uses the basic framework of Versioning Machine, “a tool for displaying and comparing different versions of literary texts,” to digitize four unique iterations of Borges’s “El jardín de senderos que se bifurcan.” These include two manuscript editions, as well as the texts published by Sur in El jardín de senderos que se bifurcan (1941) and Ficciones (1944). Born out of a graduate seminar on genetic criticism, conducted by Prof. Daniel Balderston in the Fall of 2018 at the University of Pittsburgh, the project combines methods and insights of literary studies, genetic criticism, and the emerging field of digital humanities. For a more detailed explanation, please see the article published in Variaciones Borges 51 (2021).
