Awards in France, Spain and the United States. Presidential elections in Argentina bring Raúl Alfonsín to power, ending the military government.

Historical Context

Raúl Ricardo Alfonsín, candidate of the Radical Party, elected president. First time that the Peronist party is defeated in fair and free presidential elections. December 10 marks the last day of military dictatorship in Argentine history and the beginning of an uninterrupted period of democratically elected governments.
